Case Study: North East Wales Institute of Higher EducationCase Studies |
This unique project for the North East Wales Institute of Higher Education (NEWI) involved the design and installation of a bespoke scenic lift (with multi-stage direct-acting hydraulics). The students at the institute participated in the design process, and the final installation owes a lot to their contributions. Features include: curved glass doors (corresponding to curves in the pillars and architecture of this listed building), and straight glass doors providing disabled access, and a large, very attractive satin stainless steel enclosure. This project demonstrates how well new design and older architecture can go together - and the lift is now a main feature of the institute's entrance hall. |
