Amalgamated Lifts wins lift refurbishment contract for Skanska's head
offices, winners of the Sunday Times UK's Greenest Company Award
26 July 2011 - Orpington UK - Amalgamated Lifts, leading providers of lift installation,
modernisation and maintenance services throughout the South-East of England, has
been awarded a contract for the refurbishment of a three-car group of lifts at
Hollywood House, Skanska's new head offices in Woking.
The contract reflects Skanska's commitment to reducing energy costs and efficiency;
the lifts will be fitted with new controllers that will reduce energy consumption by
around 50%. Keith Stockbridge, major contract works manager for Amalgamated Lifts
said, " The programme is tight and we are working to ensure the lifts are completed
ready for the move at the end of September. It's a good example of our flexibility,
we've changed our normal working sequences to allow other trades to complete their
works."
The contract includes fitting new landing pushes and indicators and a car reline in
addition to the new controllers. The head office spans five floors and will be occupied
by around 700 staff.
The contract follows a series of major contracts including the refurbishment of nine
lifts at Bracken House near St Paul's completed last year and worth over £1m reaping
projected annual energy savings worth almost £30k.
