School Careers Fair Event 2026

It is always a pleasure to attend Primary School Career Fairs in our local community. Representing our industry sector and hopefully inspiring the next generation of engineers, technicians, office staff, etc. 🛠💻

Receiving the following feedback this morning on email from the Assistant Principal makes it all worthwhile;

“They showed great curiosity and enthusiasm as they explored the different job roles and career pathways you introduced to them, engaging in purposeful conversations. The wide range of job opportunities shared on the day opened their eyes to a future full of exciting possibilities, and that was made possible because of you. Your willingness to share your knowledge, experiences, and insights made a meaningful impact and helped bring learning to life in a way that simply isn’t possible in the classroom alone”

We had a great time and we look forward to future opportunities to do similar volunteering work. 🤝

Red Nose Day

The team came together and got creative, designing their own noses and feasting on cakes to successfully raise over £100 in support of Comic Relief.

Proof that serious fundraising doesn’t always require serious faces!

Lambeth – Match My Project – Launch Event

We were honoured on the 18th March 2026 to be in attendance of the London Borough of Lambeth – Match My Project – Partnership Launch Event. It was a great opportunity to learn about the local charities in the area and a real way for us to give back to the community.

As part of our commitment to giving back, we were pleased to donate 100+ pairs of cargo trousers and shorts to various charities to further their noble works, whether it be in local gardening or helping young people enter work with the suitable attire.

We look forward to seeing how Match My Project will make a difference in the way we make social value contributions. Thank you to Barry Bugden and Be Lambeth for having us, we look forward to the next event.

Dan Martin’s Half Marathon Run

On Sunday the 12th April, our engineer Dan Martin, is taking part in the London Landmarks Half Marathon Limited on behalf of the ellenor Hospice.

When asked why he chose this charity, Dan replied with “It is truly an amazing place for young and old people that require end of life care and also for the families that are sharing these difficult times.”

Each year Ellenor need to raise £9.6 million to continue caring and supporting thousands of patients and families facing life-limiting and life-threatening illnesses, so every pound raised is greatly appreciated!

Sophie Browne Spotlight

Following our attendance and success of the recent Women In Lifts Event at the Searcys Institute of Directors, we caught up with one of our Construction Sales Managers, Sophie Browne.

Sophie kindly shared valuable insights into her day-to-day role at Amalgamated Lifts and her experiences within the wider Lift Industry.

Sophie has been a valued employee of Amalgamated Lifts since 2018, working within our Construction Department. Being in the industry since 2010, we were curious to understand what drew her to the sector. When reflecting on her career, Sophie explained:

“I wanted a new challenge as I had been selling telephone headsets to call centres which was not particularly interesting. The recruitment consultant I was working with at the time suggested a role selling lift modernisations. I had no knowledge of lifts or the industry at all so I went for the interview—and the rest is history.”

Settling into a sales role can be challenging, but when asked which skills have been most critical to her success, Sophie highlighted being a quick learner, staying well organised, and not having a fear of heights are essential.

No two days are the same in sales, with her role varying from meeting with clients and main contractors, to working on building sites, surveying lift shafts, and handling full days of administrative work for tender returns.

Regardless of the situation, the best sales advice Sophie has received is, “Don’t take anything personally”, a mindset that applies across all areas of business.

Outside of work, Sophie volunteers at a local hospice and enjoys yoga, hiking, reading, riding her motorbike (weather permitting), watching rugby, motorsport, and relaxing with a beer.

Women In Lifts

We had a wonderful afternoon at the inaugural Women In Lifts networking event last Friday. It was such an inspiring event aimed at recognising and celebrating women in the industry.

The event offered the opportunity to make valuable connections with like minded professionals, and the insights shared were both engaging and meaningful.

We look forward to attending the next event!
